When invading the upper right, it looks odd for white to play R14 and sacrifice it, then play R17 and offer to sacrifice it, all to get a position on the upper side that Rissei declines to allow on move 29. If the position on the upper side is so important, why not just take it directly with O17 on move 22?
The roundabout method in the game looks like aji keshi. Then white cannot easily invade the right side because he has provoked black moves like Q14 and R13.
