Iyama Yuta, the title-holder, was challenged for the Meijin Title by Takao
Shinji 9p (the winner of the league).
The first game was played on September 1st (and completed in the next day)
in Osaka. Iyama Yuta, playing White, won that game (you can see the
game here) by 6,5 points.
The prize money for whoever wins the Meijin Title (best-of-seven match) is
nearly 450,000 USD!
The second round will be played on September 16th in Matsuyama (Ehime).
