Japanese
team was always stronger – he won their matches against Taiwan by 8-0
both in 2007 and 2008. Big miracle happened in 2009: Taiwanese team finally won
by 5-3!
Old
Japanese players are still strong and I am sure that such masters as Cho U,
Yoda Norimoto or Cho Chikun still can fight for big international titles, but
what is the situation with youth Go? It seems that nowadays in Japan they
don’t have any big stars, who can continue Japanese traditions. Young Japanese
1-dans still play on 2-stones handicap with titleholders, but in Korea 1-dans
are stronger than most 8-9 dan players. Korean 1-dans can beat everyone – even
superstars like Cho Hunhyun or Seo Bongsu!
It’s good
to invite such players to Japanand give them Japanese citizenship – but maybe it’s only me, who think like
this?
I will show
you the game played on the first board in Taiwanvs Japanmatch.
