Big Sensations in the 3rd Quzhou-Lanke Cup!
The Quzhou-Lanke Cup is the Chinese
Tournament with the highest total prize money (with approximately 75,000 USD
for the Winner).
Xie He 7p advanced to the semifinals by
defeating Gu Li 9p in the 3rd round (you can see that game here). Gu Li had won
the previous edition of the Quzhou-Lanke Cup, so his elimination is one of the
biggest sensations so far.
The other games were also very
interesting. Zhou Ruiyang 5p defeated
Ding Wei 9p and advanced to the semifinals (so he will be playing Xie He next).
Piao Wenyao 5p and Jiang Weijie 5p, two
young and (very!) promising players, played each other in the 3rd round, and
Jiang ended up winning by resignation.
Finally, Yang Dingxin 2p, a 11-year-old boy,
also qualified to the semifinals! He became a professional go player at the age
of 9, and he is already showing impressive results. He started this tournament
as a 1-dan pro, and beat Wang Yao 6p, Chen Yaoye 9p (the current Tianyuan
title-holder), and Li Zhe 6p, in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round respectively. He
will now face Jiang Weijie in the semifinals. Who do you think will win?
We will update the results as soon as
possible, so stay with us :)
